Internet Search Tips & Tricks
Here are some basic tips from Google:
-
Keep it simple! Start by typing the name of a person, place, thing or concept for which you are looking.
-
Add relevant words. Words that relate to what you want to find in case the simple search doesn't help.
-
Try words that anyone (and a website) would understand. For example, use the word "headache" instead of "my head hurts," Headache is more specific and will narrow your search to exactly (or almost exactly) what you might want to know.
-
Use only the important words instead of a full sentence or question. For example: "country where bats are an omen of good luck" should be changed to, "bats good luck." Why? All the words you use in your sentence will generally be included in your search. This can limit your search so it is practically unusable.
-
Let Google do the work! Certain types of searches will show special information below the search box where you can choose the one that fits your search.
